WHAT IS THE C.A.R.E. FOOD PANTRY?
The C.A.R.E. (Christians Actively Reaching Everyone) Food Pantry provides food to those who are hungry in the Farragut Community. Many people assume that there are not hungry people in Farragut, because of the wealth in this community. But, we know that there are hungry children in school, hungry working-poor, hungry single-parent homes, and hungry elderly on fixed incomes living in Farragut. It is our desire as a church to reach out to those who are hungry and help meet that need.
WHERE IS THE C.A.R.E. FOOD PANTRY?
The C.A.R.E. Food Pantry is located in Farragut Christian Church, 138 Admiral Road, Knoxville, Tennessee. A special room has been designated and stocked to conveniently serve anyone who comes seeking food. Please call the church office at 966-5224 for directions.
WHAT ARE THE C.A.R.E. FOOD PANTRY OPERATING HOURS?
The C.A.R.E. Food Pantry is open the 2nd & 3rd Thursday of the month (except for holidays) from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Caring volunteers are available during these hours to assist people in food selection. Two bags of food per month are allowed to families.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
Currently, over 30 individuals volunteer their time as greeters, shoppers, and stockers. The pantry is stocked mostly by donations from the members of Farragut Christian Church. Monetary donations are used to purchase items from local groceries and Second Harvest Food Bank. Outreach Garden and the Davis Family YMCA donate fresh produce seasonally to the pantry. Several Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops in the Farragut community also donate food and time to the pantry. We are very grateful for all who help in this ministry.
